Bike Week 2010 at Destination Daytona

The weather is finally starting to trend warmer here in North East Florida and the sun is shining brightly so we decided to make the 170 mile round trip down to Destination Daytona near Ormond Beach, Florida to visit the sights and sounds of Bike Week 2010.

We met up our good friend Jeff just outside of Green Cove Springs and headed South on US 17, took SR 100 over to US 1 and then that led us into Destination Daytona. It took us about an hour and a half to get down there and the scenery was superb along the way.  Lots of bikes on the roads in both directions just enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.

Once we were there we just wondered around, grabbed some food (watch out for the Chicken Gyro – it got me!) and did a little shopping.  The major past time of Bike Week for us is looking at the bikes. There such a great variety and number of bikes – it is always nice to see the subtle changes that people make to call their bike their own.

Here are just a few that were there:

The ride home was just as nice as the trip down with us just reversing our route.  As we approached the intersection of US 1 and SR 100 we waved farewell to Jeff who continued North on US 1 as we took SR 100 across to US 17 and on home.

It was a great way to spend the day and we were very thankful for our safe journey there and back.
